Hi

I get kind of paranoid using my wireless at home and as a result crank my security up pretty well with long pass phrases and MAC recognised devices.

I have had my D6300 for nearly a year and all seems well, I use the Genie on my iPhone to check connections etc. However this evening after having my Wifi on for about an hour, I tried to access the router through Genie, it wouldn't let me. It said something like 'not connected to router or router not recognised' concerned by this I tried to access through my Wired ethernet connection on my laptop and it would not let access on 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1, as if there was no router to access.

After a reset I got in fine, but is this a common glitch or is it possibly somebody who hacked my wifi covering their tracks by forcing me to reset and wipe log activity?

Please help?

I just upgraded my firmware to the latest version today on my WNR1000 V2. The router was and has always worked perfectly with no issues. I have a Security Camera DVR connected to the router to view the cameras over the internet which has always worked perfectly also. The problem is now the router does not "see" the dvr and of course I can't connect to it via the internet anymore. I changed nothing except the firmware upgrade. The router did see it briefly once for a few minutes and now it never appears in the "Attached Devices" page in the router. The DVR is a wired device. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Gene

I have a Netgear Range Max wireless router

I set up a new computer that has win 7 64 bit. I connect the network cable to the router and it only shows yellow light, which means 10mbps and the connection is really slow, but when it connect by wireless it is much faster, but still network cable should be fast and connect by 100 and i am not sure why or what to do.

i have tried changing cables and nothing, it is a new computer, so there shouldn't be any problem with network adapter, but you never know.

there is a imac connected by wireless and that is fine.

I guess once in while the router will act up and will have to pull the plug for couple of mins then it will work fine again.

please if any one can help. I don't know what else to do. I thought of maybe the router needs replaced, because it is getting old, but is there anything else i can try.

I am currently using WNDR3700v2 and overall I am happy with 2.4 and 5.0Ghz performance; however, lately, I started using USB port to share my data and I noticed that the USB performance is pretty much non-existent on my router - barely getting 2-3 MB/s regardless if I connect usb 2 or usb 3 hard drive. Wireless or wired also does not seem to matter :(

Could you please recommend a replacement router that has similar feature set as my current router but offers true USB 3.0 performance - I am hoping for at least 50-80MB/s reads and writes (is that even possible on a router?)

If netgear does not offer anything that meets my USB performance, are there any other brands that actually offer respectable routers with high USB performance?

I appreciate any information.

Hi

I have two DG834GT routers. They both work fine with a wired connection to a PC. One of them works fine wireless, with a range of at least 20 to 30 meters through floors and walls etc. The signal from the other one is just about picked up if the PC is within 3 meters in the same room. An iphone can get a signal intermittently within 30 to 60 cm.

I have swapped the antennae which has no effect so it appears to be a problem with the router.

As far as I can see, all of the wireless settings for the two routers in the Netgear setup are the same.

Does this mean that one of the routers is faulty, or is there something that I can tweak to get it to work. I should perhaps add that I was using the "faulty" router fine until a few years ago. Since then it has been in its box in a store cupboard.

I would welcome any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Simon

Is there some place to see what port numbers are actually assigned to the services listed in the router's pre-configured services list?

Right now, you can only see the name of the service, and not what port number it is supposedly attached to.

I need to do some VPN port work but am not convinced, or sure, of what Netgear assigned to the names.

Tried to look at it from the command line, but it only shows custom-added services, not the lower pre-assigned ones in the table.

I have a WNDR4500. My speeds while downloading from .se, .us and .nl gigabit locations range from 35kbps to 65kbps. This started suddenly, approximately 10 days ago. Before this, I could easily get over 3,000kbps from the sites.

All other forms of downloading (torrents, web browsing, downloading from webpages, etc.) are unaffected and speed tests show 33Mbps. The speeds are only throttled when going to FTPs through the router.

Router firmware is updated. My PC is updated. I tested RushFTP, CuteFTP and FileZilla...all with the same results. No new hardware or software has been installed on the PC since this started. Nor have I changed any settings in Win8 or the router page. Modem and router have been reset multiple times.

I connected a PC directly to the modem and was able to get normal speeds on the same FTPs, therefore, I believe the problem is somewhere with the router.

Is there a priority setting for FTPs in the router? (QoS is not set or on.)
What would be causing speeds specifically for FTPs to be affected?
Has anyone else experienced this?
