While waiting for other problems to be solved I've started to play around with Internet Radio.
Am I rigth that only mp3 streams are supported by EVA8k? Am I right that many of the radio broadcasts are NOT using mp3 streams? wikipedia claims that mp3 is THE most popular stream format but when trying to hand pick some radio stations I found that EVA was unable to play them (I know, I'm not the only one). I had to transcode using VLC but I suppose that in the end transcoding is not the optimal way to solve this. From Netgear perespective you don't want to support all up comming streaming formats. From the user perespective, you just want to listen to your favorite radio station (who cares about streaming formats). Is VLC the only option to for non mp3 streams? or have I missed something basic? |

Can you describe the option with VLC?
Can I convert a WMA-stream to a MP3-Stream? I also tried to setup the eva for playing a WMA-Radio-Stream but without success. On the website and also on the package of the EVA8000 it is specified that you can hear MP3 and WMA streams. So is my question to the development team: how can i setup a WMA-Radio-Stream? |

Currently only MP3 stations are supported. All of the stations on the list are MP3 but not all are up all the time.

SW, any ETA as to when there might be an update to support WMA radio streams? There are many great stations out there that currently are only broadcast in WMA. Like micha23 said, the website and package state that the EVA supports both MP3 and WMA internet radio streams. Thx...
