I reset my phone because it would not complete some Skype calls. When an automated system answers the phone the Skype call fails. Resetting the phone fixed this a few weeks back.
Now the more pressing problem, I can no longer sign into Skype. Here is the trouble shooting attempted to date: Reset phone "ALL" from handset Unplugged base and repowered Reset router for network Verified I can log into base from browser: Current System information System Uptime : 0 day 0 hour 14 minutes Product ID : 10008/1.0.4.300/NETGEAR Firmware Version : 1.0.4.30 Kernel Version : 4.1-14 Web Server Version : 1.5 Attempted to sign on using 2 known good IDs that allow computer to log into skype Attempted sign on to skype using the web server and hand set reset to base to defaults using web server and tried sign on again All attempts have failed. Are there any other suggestion on what to try next. Phone has been in service about 8 months |

Yes, I'm having the same exact freaking problem with this stupid device! Tried everything that you mentioned in your post with no success. Time to get rid of both this device, Skype crap and back to 19th century phone models!!!!!!!!!

How long have you been having this problem. I wonder if it may be a Skype service issue and not the phone?

A few hours now!
Yes, I lost my temper! AGAIN! Can't be device problem. Certainly Skype is doing something. Their software works fine per my testing on my Win/Mac/Linux machines here. So, not the phone problem. I have 2 set of these phones and none can connect. |

Hmm... Thanks a bunch for the update. I am logging a problem report to skype. I did not see this listed as a problem yet in their forum

Also I wonder if this is a problem with Netgear not updating software on the phone. I am not clear on when the last update was and are we falling more and more out of step with the current version of Skype.

Same problem here. I have had the phone for almost 9 months with no major problems, except a bit of crackling here and there when utilizing skype out. Now the phone won't let me sign back in. I have tried resetting everything and cycling through also checked to be sure i had the correct password and username by logging into the pc. all works fine and still not able to sign in. any help is greatly appreciated. I have posted an email with skype, but haven't heard back yet.

I am having same problem as well. But with me it is like this:
I puchased a Netgear SPH200D phone about 8 months ago and it is working just fine. I remain signed in on that phone, however. Today I convinced my cousin to switch to Skype and I puchased for her another new SPH200D but no matter what we tried we cannot signin to Skype using her Skype username and password nor mine. But on my old SPH200D phone, everything works fine but I am afraid to signout as I may not be able to sign back in again. So basically I too am having a Skype signin issue on a new SPH200D phone. Geez, I hope Skype or Netgear fix this issue quick as it took a lot of effort to convince my relatives to ditch the traditional phone and start using VoIP but this issue is making me look bad to say the least. Quote:
Have you tried their SPH200D connected to YOUR router using their Skype details (you can connect as many as you like using DHCP, you won't have to disconnect or turn off yours). IF their SPH200D can connect to Skype using your router and your ISP, then the problem must be at their end with either their router or / and ISP? IF however, their SPH200D does not work using your router and your ISP, then the problem must be in the Netgear equipment? That's what I'd do. |

Posting just for closure. The problems were do to some sort of network problem with Skype that seemed to just be affecting any Skype VOIP handset that attempted to log in. You could not. If you stayed logged in through the time the problem was occurring you were not affected. But if you logged out or bought a new phone and attempted to log in you were out of luck. I think they had the network issue resolved sometime on Sunday Nov 11.
