Two Windows XP SP2 systems. One connected to the router with RJ45, the other with a Netgear USB wireless adaptor.
Both working fine up until about 3 days ago, when Internet access was lost. I can log in to the router with both systems. The router says it is connected to the Internet. I have reset the router via the web interface, and also removed power & restarted. I can't understand why both should connect to the router but fail in accessing web pages or email servers. The systems don't communicate with each other - file sharing etc. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what may be stopping access please. Thanks Jackie |

Hi upton and welcome to the forum.
Who is your ISP? Is this an ADSL 2+ line? The router has the latest firmware? Make sure that you statically set VCI, VPI and multiplexing methods in the ADSL Settings in the router. You will need to call your ISP and get the correct stats. Peace |

ISP is FSNet, location UK
Login settings haven't changed and the router is saying it is connected at 512MB so I presume all settings are correct? I don't know whether or not it is ADSL 2+ line. The router doesn't have the latest firmware. Could it be something to do with malware? I did notice one of the systems has stuff like mywebsearch on it, so would guess there is more of the same. Can you ping 4.2.2.2?
Have you cleared the cache in your browser? You can try running a Spyware program to see if that may be the issue. Do you have any software firewalls? Peace |

I followed instructions regarding resetting the router, but no difference.
I tried connecting to the ISP with an ADSL modem, and that worked. Interestingly, the router still displayed that it was connected to the ISP - the light on the router was green and, when logged into it, the status was connected, even though the ADSL cable was not attached. We have taken the router back to the supplier and got a replacement, which I am going to install on Saturday. Thanks Jackie |
