Hi guys, before I order my EVA8000 can somebody who has first hand experience with this please give me some much appreciated info on the following:
![]() I have all of my ripped DVDs stored on my NAS, each in it's own folder. Each folder contains a VIDEO_TS subfolder which contains all of the .VOBs and .IFO ... Question 1) Each DVD is split into chapters therefore I have several .VOBs which make up each DVD. Will the EVA8000 recognise these .VOBs as one whole DVD and play them consecutively or will playback stop after the first .VOB has finished, leaving me to manually start the next chapter? (which is what happens on the PS3) Question 2) Can I tag the .IFO or .VOBs with cover art and information about the DVD (Year, Genre, Cast etc) and will this appear on the EVA8000 for me to browse? Question 3) What is the browsing system like for viewing DVDs stored in this way. Is it like the PS3 where you have to keep drilling down through folder after folder until you reach the VIDEO_TS folder or is it more sophisticated? A screenshot of the movie browsing would be great if possible! ![]() Any help would be VERY much appreciated!! Thanks guys Steve |

Hi Steve,
1). Yes, it will see all the files as one movie and play them all so you don't have to keep dipping in to select the next VOB. 2). Yes you can. If you use the Tag Tool you can pull down the tag info from the IMDB and also have things like director, movie synopsis, year and rating too. It's a rather neat tool BUT it only does one movie at a time so it can be a bit of a slog doing hundreds of movies. However, it's well worth the effort to tag your movie collection properly IMHO. It makes for a much better "user experience" when you use the EVA. For example, you can quickly pull out all movies directed by your favourite director, or starring your favourite actor etc. 3). You can browse by movie name, actor, genre, movie type, browse by cover art. You can search based on strings you type in too. Of course you can also drill down the NAS structure manually and choose your content that way if you like. I don't have any screen dumps to hand but if you have a nose around this forum (or the beta forum) you'll find some examples. Oh, and use the beta version of the firmware, it's more advanced than the shipped version.

Thanks for the response Ian - it's much appreciated. You answered all my questions in great detail (and the answers were just what I wanted to hear!) Very much appreciated.
![]() I'll be popping into PC World tomorrow to pick up my EVA8000 - can't wait! (by the way, for anyone who is still thinking about purchasing an EVA8000, PC World have just lowered their price to £179.99 if you reserve online) Anyway, thanks again Ian. |
