“Z-san driver could not be installed” or “Failed to install the Z-SAN Storage Class Filter Driver” or “Error 2 UpdateDriverForPlugAndPlayDevices” or “Failed to install z-san Bus”
I had all of these errors during install I spent 8 hrs looking at different posts and trying every thing I could find to fix this. Then I spent another 1.5 hrs on the phone with tech support. It appeared to me that they we just reading the forms and having me try everything that was posted. Then the tech told me I had to reformat my computer and reinstall windows XP Pro SP2. Well I was not going to do that. After talking to the tech he felt it was a permissions writing to registry problem and a re-install was the only way. I found an answer that worked for me. I hope this helps someone else. In Windows XP Professional, you may use the following secedit command-line to reset the file and registry permissions to defaults. Open a dos window and type the following. secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\repair\secsetup.inf /db secsetup.sdb /verbose **** DO NOT USE THIS WITH XP HOME For more info and info on resetting xp home go to http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/re...in-windows-xp/ |

This error appear if Daemon Tools is active!
* deactivate the mounted virtual drives * close the Application Then the Error shouldn't appear anymore. |

1. in general, a long working windows system should be cleaned by f.i. a commercial cleaning utility, or a freebie such as: CCleaner (www.ccleaner.com).
2. also it is wise to set temporarily the OS in a clean install mode before installing drives such as wireless NICs and SC101 drivers. More: http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=k...0353&x=13&y=12 |

This is exactly the same as SubInACL.
I remember posting this a while ago.

Fixed, finally.
Installed SCM 3.0 (from cd) as admin, then I could definitely see ip and mac address in the dhcp tab of my dlink (dsl-604t2) routers config page, but no dice, I even made sure dlink firmware was up to date (ftp.dlink.com) but again - "No Storage Central Found". Eventually made sure that udp port 20001 was open (local & remote) in my firewall (ESET Smart Security), uninstalled Socketlock and Unplugandpray from grc.com. TADA!!! ![]() ![]() Currently updating firmware online. I know this is only a compilation of stuff from these forums and online but I hope it helps someone. |

I didn't see any reference to opening the remote port. I assumed it needed only the local port 20001 passed. |

Hi, I tried ALL the suggestions but still no success!
I use XP, SP3 message: Failed to install the Z-SAN Storage Class Filter Driver of course the drive is pretty useless! I do not understand how a company like NETGEAR can release a product for such a popular operating environment and not make sure the installation is working flawlessly!! Anyhow, lets hope that with your support I will get it going. Thanks for any feedback! |
