I have two EVA 700 at home.
After about 3 years of use both are now having the same problem. The menu image is black and white, it's spinning from bottom to top. I can no longer use it. The screen content just turn in the same way as if my television would have a "Vertical Hold" problem. I get this very same problem with two different EVA 700 on two different working TV. I really think they are both toasted and in need of a costly hardware replacement. Before trashing it, I tried to add a support ticket, but Netgear support website is bugging. So I'm trying here on the forum. Please help me. |

Netgear support told me that this problem is hardware related.

Look in to bricking the unit...
this is where you FTP a new firmware to the device...I have a friend who does this for Nintendo Wii's when they are dead and he has yet to find a Wii that doesnt work after doing this.... In the forums their is instructions on how to recovery from when you have messed up the upgrading of the firmware... Don't trust the Netgear support too much; they didnt pay for your product and they know that its now end of life and you need to replace. By the way the have a look at the new EVA2000 this is smaller and has same specs as the EVA8000 from what people are saying...! |

Thanks for the tip.
Unfortunately, there is no way to bricking the EVA700. Netgear support or forum just contains information on recover the EVA8000. http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/de...ry/r_id/100109 I did try it anyway, just to check if the EVA would be trying to download the firmware image. I was not able. Anyway, I spent a lot of time searching around on the web, but I just can't find 1) The EVA700 firmware image 2) A procedure for EVA700. So both my EVA700s are in the trash now. Thanks again. |
