I just looked at the barcode on the outside of my box and here is what I see:
WNDR3700-100NAS 100-13904-02R1 and then the serial number Based on this "02R1" marking, does it mean I have the revision 21 or I have revision 1? Can someone please clarify? |

that is the original released one. when did you buy that one? id be very surprised to see those still floating around. if it was the 21 would say 02r21 and has the rev4 board inside of it. yours probably has the rev 1 board in it. there are only 4 board revisions currently as far as i know and i see a lot of these since we carry them.

Wow! I bought it just 3 weeks ago at a local Best Buy here. Having read your reply, I went to another one and they a few of "my" version (R1), then tons of R17 and then as I was about to pick up once of those, I found a R18.
No R21 though. But at least I have something newer. Anyone know anything about R18? Last edited by Mars Mug; July 28th, 2010 at 02:07 PM. |

so i was looking at the old box (the yellow looking).. and it was like 100-13904-01R17 from the new box (the red box looking thing) it has the 02R1 can anyone help out? cause i was looking at the other fourm and people were saying there are R15, R21, etc but the numbers before that are "01" the new one that came out... the red box looking it has "02" AND THEN the numbers like "02R1" what im thinking is that the "02R1" is the "01R21"? can someone verify that? also for the wndr37av, ive looked at the bar code and theres no indication to which version it is. Is there another way of knowing? (and yes i know that they are the same thing... according to the other forum) hopefully this makes sense. If not then i appologize. Just let me know if I need to redo this. Im using the apple comps at bestbuy right now. |

Just picked up router at my local Fry's. They had both the old Blue/Yellow and the new Red boxes. The Blue/Yellow boxes had "r" numbers like 01R17, while the new Red boxes had the number 02R1. So it looks like to me if you want the latest, get a Red box.

Here is an update to my R18 that I found today. It worked for two hours and then the 2.4Mhz router portion just DIED. I tried factory reset, reflashed the bios, but the yellow light would never come on, and no matter what I tried it just was dead. So, can someone please confirm if the if the RED BOX with 100-13904-02R1 is really later than the R17, R18 or even R21? By the way, I live in NYC and I would assume that Best Buy's stock goes pretty quickly out here. I can't imagine why 3 of their stores have the 02R1 versions and some R17's and that one R18 that I found. The intrigue continues... |

I am very imvolved with the WNDR3700's dd-wrt development post and have read of a few having their 2.4 radios just die on them. could have been dd-wrt related, could be related to the revision of the router.
I really would like to know what the differences or reason for new versions coming out... |

I have gone back to my original "02R1" version router and everything works without any problems. Still also curious about this revision puzzle... |

Are you guys sure that's not some type of year/week production code?
Are there def differences between all of the units?.. 19+ minor revisions seems like a lot to me, considering that most of the early models had such a small scale to start with. On top of that the few netgear products that have had any type of lookup tables released showed that they like to use the first 3 digits of a device to give it's Major revision number. If there's any firm detail of the differences between the revisions then I would really like to know :/.. Ideally we would have a service tech who could tell us, but companys dont like to give out even basic info like that these days ;( |
