Default VPN passthrough wndr3700

I just purchased the wndr3700 and cannot vpn from my iPAD or iPhone to my desktop at home. I was able to do this with DIR-655. I also can't vpn to home pc from laptop at work. Normally I would vpn to home pc and the use remote destop .
I have firewall on PC off, I use Wndows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I have these ports open
Turn port forwarding for the VPN ports: 50, 51,Turn on port 1723 for PPTP VPN's- used for PPTP control
I did this :Select WAN Setup > Advanced > Respond to Ping on Internet Port.
I also cannot use a remote desktop wyse program from iPAD to desktop.
Can anyone give detailed step by step instructions for this ?

The above forum shows how to set up windows 7 to allow incoming vpn connection. I did have to :
Router Configuration: Enable PPTP and Generic Route Encapsulation (GRE) on the Router. Depending on the type of router, you need to either enable PPTP or create a port forward to port 1723. If you’re router has an additional setting for PPTP or VPN, make sure it’s enabled. It’s usually called a “pass-through” setting (i.e. PPTP pass-through or VPN pass-through)

I did have to enable GRE on DIR-655 but i don'y see how to do this on the wndr.

Any ideas. I used this vpn to home from my ipad the remote desktop every day. It worked gr8. If I can't get this to work on wndr3700 I need to go back to DIR-655 or try the BETA dd-wrt on wndr3700

I got this off netgears website in area that stated solution for vpn passthrough trouble.
"Turn port forwarding for the VPN ports: 50, 51,Turn on port 1723 for PPTP VPN's- used for PPTP control
I did this :Select WAN Setup > Advanced > Respond to Ping on Internet Port."

My PC is behind the wndr3700 does this mean I do not nead windows 7 to be a vpn server?
I'm not sure about DMZ. I think DMZ is unchecked in router setup.

you can not connect using VPN if you don't have VPN server on your network. 3700 only does is to port forward. VPN passthrough is ONLY for PC behind the 3700 making outgoing traffic to the remote VPN termination

not going to helps.. only help to flood your router

where is VPN terminated? 3700 ONLY does VPN passthrough.

I assume the PC is behind the 3700 and you have setup VPN server on PC? try using DMZ on PC behind the 3700

remote desktop needs ports 3389 for inbound rules

As far as i have learned with the Netgear Support. Its not possible!
I'm quite pissed about this. Had a Dir 615 running all fine with AGL Setup ( bit strange, but possible). the WNDR does not allow you to forward AGL Traffic to a specific PC in your network. But hey, Netgears offers you a nice piece of hardware VPN ... this will help you out ( just a small quote i got from the support).

You could do some funny setup with your Dir Router. to set it up in front of the WNDR.

Or if yo got the balls go for DD-WRT maybe they have the possibilities to setup AGL "ports".
