The EVA8000 does not work with Windows 7. Many posts about this subject. However, the 8000 will work if you setup a NAS or a non Windows 7 PC. XP, Vista work fine.

And how does it work WITH WIndows 7 or where can I get my money back. The dealer won'T give it back to me so netgear has to do this.

It doesn't. Or at least no one has been able to get it to. Good luck getting your money back.

When using Win 7, you can run Virtual PC and XP-mode or the free VMware player with Vista, XP etc. and share through it. Set up the network on the virtual pc as bridged.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/vir.../download.aspx Set unique IP addresses on EVA, your physical network adapter on your computer in win7 and on the adapter on the virtual pc. Same subnet mask. Connect the USB shares to the Virtual PC in the options menu in the Virtual PC software. These can still be available in Win 7 as network drives. Share the hard drives when running the Virtual PC and set up EVA to find shares on the IP address on the Virtual PC and the name you select as share name on the Virtual PC. Shares must be on USB disk as far as I have understood. I haven't managed to share internal hard drives connected to the computer using Win 7. The virtual PC can use USB drives as a physical disc. No USB3 support yet on VMware player. |
