Default configuring dg632

Hi, I have bought a netgear dg632 ADSL Router+Modem. I followed the instructions in the manual. It says, I just use the setup wizard and let the device automatically detect the type of internet I have.

However, the wizard fails saying it could not detect the internet settings.
The green light for ADSL connectivity is on. I also reset the router and checked.
Still the setup wizard fails.

Is there anything I can or should check?.

I tried to set it manually but there were some fields I couldn't understand - Multiplexing method ,vpi, vci.
The list of countires doesn't list India, so chose 'Other'.
I choose pppoe, have a user name and password from ISP and dynamically set ip and dns.

If you have faced such a problem please let me know. If possible please explain the multiplexing, vpi and vci terms.

Default Re: configuring dg632

Hi rhododendron and welcome to the forum.

The ADSL settings are all settings that are necessary for you to connect. You will need to call the ISP and get the settings from them. They will know what Multiplexing method, VCI and VPI they use. Once you get all the settings from them, you can manually set them in the ADSL Settings page.

You should be selecting PPPoA for your encapsulation in Basic Settings.

Also make sure that your firmware is up to date in Router Status.

Peace
