Default Alternative skins for the NTV550

For those who are tired of the current NTV550 skin, here is a pack of new skins you can use. I've included instructions on how to load the new skins into the NTV550, as well as a guide for creating your own skins. You can use the link below to download the zip file that contains the new skins pack and the two How-To guides.

http://www.downloads.netgear.com/fil...-To_guides.zip

Update 10/19/11: Since Halloween is coming up, I've added a couple of new Halloween themes. You can download them at: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/fil..._Halloween.zip

Disclaimer: The adding of alternative skins is still a "beta" feature, so it's a "use at your own risk".

Enjoy!

Update 8/31/11: I updated the How-To guides to reflect the enhancements/fixes made in the 3.2.16 firmware. A couple of changes are the unit no longer has the tendency to hang after uploading a new skin, and the maximum background resolution is 1920x1080.

Great! Been waiting for this for a long time.

I read the documentation but did not see a way to change the font size. Is that possible or something that could be implemented?

Hi Musicman,

Currently font colors are the only variables we can access, but I've already asked for access to the font size if possible, so "maybe" in the future.

Thanks Dogbert... we can indeed hope.

I tried loading the Satelite skin, and once I selected the theme file the 550 just froze. Upon reboot I still had the old skin. Perhaps it was because I had copied the files to my SD card and not the front USB. I'll try playing more with it today.

Also to me the Galaxy theme made me crazy ... then I decided to do a restore to factory default and finally the NeoTV it was decided to load the new theme.
Probably the NeoTV needs more resources to accept the new wallpapers.

Great job Dogbert! I was getting really bored with the default skin. Loving the Galaxy.

Thanks!

Now to try and make my own!

Thank you Dogbert for your Skinpack

Could it be that the location coordinates of pip-pf and flip-pf are reversed in your instructions?

I am not that familiar with photoshop, please could you upload your highlighted areas as transparent stand alone pic.png. (grids)
To combine my own background an overlay with your areas.
This would help me a lot....thank you for your work.
