I am not a Beta group member but the inability from technical support to solve my problem (effectively clueless) and lack of response on the other forum, force me to post here. When trying to playback WAVE files (44.1/16 or higher sampling/bit rates) that were ripped or coverted using dBPoweramp, all I get is something like loud whitenoise. No problem with FLAC files. The people at dBPower amp tell me that the Netgear NeoTV 550 cannot handle properly all wave (TAG/) protocols. What is your take on this and is there any thing that can be done about it?
Thanks in advance for your input soundbites |

I saw this post a couple of days ago, but as I don't have a direct answer I didn't post before.
But if FLAC seems to work for you, why don't you convert the WAVs to FLACs then? Is there a particular reason for not doing that? |

Thanks, RDC. Reason is that I prefer to rip into WAV and, then, playback WAV files. Don't need nor want any signal processing/compression lossless or not. I already invested in a hi-end ripping program that does exact bit-for-bit, high resolution, 24 bit (upsampled) wav files. At dBpoweramp, the maker of that tsoftware, they have indicated that problem is due to the WAV decoding program in the NeoTV 550 not following all the WAV tag protocols.

I have the same issue with having to convert wav files. But it's not just the neo that has the problem playing wav. My new Himedia 900b can't play them either.
