Default Router Broadcasting but wireless devices cannot find SSID

Hello,

I have a WGT624v4 108 Mbps Wireless Firewall Router.

Up until this afternoon I have been using it without problem for years. Suddenly, when I returned home, my phones were not picking up my wireless signal. I checked and all other devices were also not connected.

The blue wireless light is blinking as if it is broadcasting, but nothing is picking up the signal.

Let me tell you what I have done trying to fix it. I have unplugged the device and plugged it back in, updated the firmware, and reset all settings to factory default using the "admin page".

Please let me know if you have any ideas!

Thanks!

(same poster from above..)

I should also add that the router is working for for "wired" devices.

Very possible that internal wireless died. Sounds like done reset already so unless there is channel interference causing issues you may try changing channels but there is much left to do

Thank you for the reply!

If the internal wireless is dead, would it still blink as if it is broadcasting?

Also, it's on Channel 6 right now, do you suggest another Channel or are the all about the same?

Also, I have yet to do a Reset using a pin on the back of the device. But would the firmware update and software reset accomplish the same thing?

Thanks!

I say internal wireless is failing

You only need to change channel If there is large amount of other wireless around you. 1,6,11 is you want to try

Firmware will not fix failing unit and basic function of wireless should function anyway. Possible corrupted firmware but hard reset should clear that too

Well,

I hate to even say this, because you are going to think I'm a total goof-ball, but for some reason after almost 36 hours of inactivity, suddenly, my devices started picking up my wireless again.

I makes no sense, but maybe you are right and my router is on it's last legs so I should be on the lookout for a new one.

Do you have any advice for a good product to replace the one I have?
