Hmm.. as far as I know the SC101 doesn't beep.
Have you tried replacing the drives? It may be the drives "beeping", not the sc101 itself. As drives technically don't beep either, they may be actually screeching which kinda sounds like a beep. It can mean that the drive is failing, but sometimes they just sound like that.

Hmm thats odd. The SC101 does not beep at all since it doesnt have a speaker. What you should try is plug the drive to a usb enclosure and see if it beeps or contact the drive manufacture and find out why it beeps.

If the noise is coming from your computer speakers, thats the drives trying to connect. Turn your speakers all the way down, and see if the noise gose away.

Glad this was here; was having the same problem and not getting any help from Netgear support. The replies that insisted it was not the SC101 sent me off in a new direction and after swapping the drive between ports a couple of times, I started tracking power cables. Discovered I had the wrong power supply connected to the unit. As soon as I corrected that, the drive spun up, the beep stopped, and the unit is humming along. So thanks to all! And to the forum for keeping a 4-year-old post on line!!

To make things clear, your computer was beeping during the boot? That seems to be a non-SC101 related issue, except if your SC101 was connected directly to your PC while the wrong power supply was used.
