I am having NETGEAR WGR614 V6
The setup is netgear is connected to a UTSTAR 300R modem which inturn connects to a adsl line. netgear connects pppoe through the bridged ethernet of UTSTAR. I was initially having firmware Version 2.0.13_1.0.13 Due to issues that my port forwarding rule getting automatically changed, I was asked to shift to latest Firmware version was upgraded to V2.0.14_1.0.14, but then I had a issue, A windows PPTP (VPN Server) is hosted on my pc and port forwarding 1723 port(PPTP) port through netgear router doesnt work. Though the same stuff works when i connect directly to my UTSTAR router modem and also vpn configurations are fine on server end since lan users and internet users can connect (when net is connected through UTSTAR Modem), but the same isnt allowed through Netgear WGR614 I was asked to downgrade to V1.0.11_1.0.7. That further did give a change that vpn was showing verifying username and password and it doesnt proceed. Somehow the router isnt favouring the vpn connections. VPN Server configurations are fine, Tried Disabling SPI firewall, enabling ping on internet and default dmz ip to vpn ip <<_-- Settings on router page. Nothing worked. Is there a solution with anyone ? |

Windows VPN server uses GRE, which is not supported with Netgear routers.
Moving to 802.11g routers |

Why is it that anything should be supported in router apart from port forwarding ?
So in short u mean i cant use this for vpn service. Usually watever router we buy, if we port forward it to 1723 port it had worked, only this not working Are you confirmed this doesnt support ? |

The router does support VPN pass-through, just not with GRE protocol.
