Default WGR614 V6 - no wireless internet connection

I am trying to get a wireless internet connection with both a laptop and a desktop using a WGR614 V6 router. The laptop (with an internal adapter) connects just fine to the router and the internet. The desktop (using a WG111 adapter and running Windows XP SP2) connects to the router, but I don't get an internet connection. If I connect the desktop to the router with a wired LAN connection I do get an internet connection.

I don't understand what my problem is. Does anyone have a suggestion?

A little background: my wireless network was working just fine until a few weeks ago. A Windows update that downloaded automatically conflicted with my Zone Alarm firewall. Before I found out that the firewall was the problem, I played with the network connections and logged into the router. I don't think I changed anything, but I thought I would mention it. Given that I can get on the internet wirelessly with the laptop, I think my router settings are fine. And given that the desktop gets on the internet with a LAN connection, I think the desktop's setting are fine. And given that the desktop connects wirelessly to the router (just not the internet), I think the adapter works fine.

I would greatly appreaciate any assistance.

I was not sure if this is a router question or an adapter question, so I'm sorry if I posted to the wrong place.

Sounds like the router is working fine, do you have security enabled?
Try disabling it, it may be you are entering the password incorrectly.

Also please post your ipconfig information for the adapter (on the computer that can't connect):
Code:
start > run > cmd
ipconfig /all
Also if you can, plug the laptop into the router via a cable, and do the same thing, post both. I want to see what the settings should be, vs. what you have on the wireless adapter to see if there is a settings problem.

Disabling security did not change anything.

Ok found it. You do not have the adapter set up to receive DHCP.
Enable DHCP on the network connection.
Code:
Start > Network Connections (or whatever its called now).
Right click on the wireless connection.
Click properties
In the checked list, choose Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
Click Properties button
Make sure both choices are set to Automatic.
That should resolve it. I haven't used windows in a while, so I may not be exact on everything. Try googling enable dhcp on network connection for a clearer explanation.
