Thumbs up NetGear WNDR3300 Connection Loss - Solution

Finally I downloaded the older firmware and downgraded via cable connection. Now the disconnection problem is solved. Everything is OK now.

I have already lowered the MTU.
I can sum up my problems in 2 ways :
- I lose connection only on the Wifi G. Every 30 minutes. It is independant of the distance between the laptop and the router.
- Wifi-N seems better, but the signal strength is less than Wifi-G.

My iMac is connected all day through Wifi-N with no problems.

I don't really see how the last 2 tips you gave will help me (and I don't want to disable features that may help for security).

Disabling SPI is of little consequence unless you believe you personally are the target for a denial of service type attack. The option to disable SPI is there for a reason.

Some ISPs check you connection to see if it is active, having ping disabled on the WAN side can cause the ISP to disconnect what appears to be an inactive connection. There is no real security risk with enabling this option.

From your description it would only take only 30 minutes to see if either option is related to your problem.

I also have a wndr3300. It is upgraded to the latest firmware and I have updated the wireless drivers on all pc's on the network. The WNDR3300drops the wireless connection once every 30 minutes to an hour. The network uses a variety of G and N cards (intel 3945, 4965, dell1505, LinkSys 54G, xbox360G). The router drops them all. The network previously worked fine with my old G router.

Ok for SPI. I will test this.
I will try, but I'm still not convinced about the ping, as I can surf without any problem with Wifi-N on one of my computer. That means that I'm not disconnected by my ISP. It's definitely a problem of the router.

Perhaps 'G' is being affected by either other networks, or a 2.4 Ghz device like a video sender or wireless phone that does not affect the higher frequency 'N'.

I too am having the same problem. I have two desktops and two laptops. I have had them running on G and N networks with various settings and regardless of what I do the wireless keeps dropping. I remember thinking that I would spend the extra money and hoepfully get a high quality product..... so much for that idea.

Which firmware did you downgrade it to lachini?

I also bought a WNDR3300 recently. I have 2 desktops that have PCI Express N adapters that only operate at 2.4GHz. Does anyone make a card that operates at both 2.4 and 5.0GHz to fully utilize thae capabilities of the router?

You know you can only use either one ; 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz

Netgear only makes USB adapter only for dual

Rest will be 2.4Ghz

All depends on how much of 2.4Ghz is saturated in your area to get 5Ghz
