I have a WNR834B router with 3 PCs wirelessly connected. The one that is struggling the worse does not show an IP address when on the Network and getting minimal reception. How do I get it to take the IP address?
The one that set up the network just reports "connect to the internet" but the other PC clearly displays an IP address. HELP!!!!!!

The computer may not get an ip address if it is too far away from the router or the signal is too low.
Move the computer closer to the router and see if it will connect and get an ip address. Describe more of your setup, environment and devices that are used. |

It's a Gateway PC with a Netgear 311 v3 802.11g wireless card. Netgear router WNR834B connected to a Cox cable modem. Router is running a WPA2 secured network with a passphrase.
One of the other PCs is Compaq with the same Netgear 311 v3 card. The other PC is a Dell with a Netgear USB2 wireless. The Compaq was the computer that was hardwired to the router for the setup and I updated the firmware from the web. The Compaq works great and the USB2 Dell usually works but needs to reconnect when first used. Compaq is same room. Other two are other rooms on the same floor. Neither is more than 15 feet from router but the troubled PC is the slightly farther of the two.

I get interference from XBox 360 wireless joypads but it don't sound like an interference problem it sounds like a security compatability issue.
Maybe the wifi card in the struggling machine does not support WPA-PSK2 try dropping your router security to an older version like WEP |
