Default Getting DTS to work?

Hi guys,
I have a technics 5DVD changer hi-fi connected to my telly & eva8k.

I've gone and bought a optical audio cable to try and get DTS working but I didn't check the amp connections..... I don't the AMP has a optical in!!!!!!

gutted. lol

I was wondering if anyone here can tell me if I can get DTS to work with my current setup? (HI-Fi specs in link)..
Can one use a coax out?? I really don't have a clue with this audio stuff..

Thanks

As you have found out, the EVA8K simply does a passthrough to your amp to decode DTS. There is some discussion here on how to rip your files and convert to AC3, but that will need to be done on a computer.

From your link, it looks to me like your receiver has no input at all for surround sound signals. I am thinking that the DTS decoder on its spec sheet is only for the integrated DVD player. You appear to be limited to stereo on all your external inputs (including the EVA).

One option for you is to buy a new receiver with the inputs you need. Another is to transcode the DTS audio to AC3.

You can preserve the surround sound in the transcoding to AC3, so if/when you upgrade your home theater setup you will be able to hear the surround sound at that point. In the meantime, you can set the EVA to downmix AC3 to stereo. (You cannot do that with DTS).
