Intranet Sites, Corporate Branding & Menlo Logic

Heya Guys,

Long time lurker, first time poster! Just wondering if someone could shed some light on my little brain wondering a lot...

Firstly, there are quite a few pages around on this forum about Intranet access on the corporate side. It's on my to do list to phone up tech support and try to get this raised as a feature request. In my humble opinion Intranet functionality would be far better (and probably more useful) that things like SSH and Telnet (which lets me honest in most corporate environments are the "techie" bit).

Second, why on earth am I forced to use Netgears logo on the logon screen when the functionality exists to let you change it but Netgear have obviously turned it off (grrrr, have a look at https://[your ssl concentrator address]/cgi-bin/importlogo). If I could somehow figure out how to make the file system not read-only I could fix this myself without too much bother. Does anyone have the logon details for the root account?

Looking around the device (console cables still rule, I don't care what anyone says), it appears to be an OEM product by Netgear after buying software from Menlo Logic (http://www.menlologic.com/). Have Netgear disabled their functionality due to the speed of the processor in the unit or for some other reason?

We use Netgear products just about everwhere in the business, from our switches, to routers, to wireless cards. However, we have yet to use a Netgear appliance in a "main" front line role, I was hoping to be able to change this with the SSL appliance for a roll out to a specific part of the business. But again I find myself having to look elsewhere for something that we can tweak appropiatly, happily using the Netgear for the trial, but will be spending 4 times as much money on something that will do exactly what the software should let it do.

Sorry if this sounds negative, as I've said we use Netgear throughout the whole company, and love most of it to bits, the lifetime warranties rule, the tech support is second to none, and as we like to say "it just works". Keep up the good work

After a longwinded exchange with tech support, I think I finally managed to explain the need for this to the Netgear support staff. Eventually I got "Will pass on recommendation to US engineers to consider".

It seemed a bit strange that it was not included by default as most other SSL VPN products I have tried have it by default (although it may be known by a number of names).

Maybe you should contact support too to repeat the requesy for the next firmware.

You'll have to place a call into tech support for an answer on this one. We don't find out about new features until they hit the firmware.

Corporate Branding on the login screen is now avail in the latest Firmware version... sorta. It lets you customize some text and use a HTML page to customize the login page displayed (to an extent).
