Hiya,

Thanks for the advice; the SC101 had been fine with the disk(s) for about 18 months, so it's probably my the power supply.

I'll read all about power supplies (PSU) now to see if this can help.

Not necessarily, but let's assume for now.....
You might want to install the disks one at a time in a PC and check if they are recognized as unallocated drives. Don't format, repair anything. It only will tell if the I/F and electronics are OK.

It was the PSU (Power Supply Unit). Thank you Jack™!

I think I'll re-format the disks and put them in a more useful setting than the SC101. I've never really got on with the access times and the drop-outs. The Zetera drivers seem to slam my Windows machine something chronic so all-told, this could be a blessing in disguise.
