Here is my predicament – I am running Windows Home Server, I have an addin called LightsOut. This little programme monitors all computers and attached devices which have an IP address.
I have an attached Dune media player which has an IP address – LightsOut sees the IP address and can be configured not to turn the server off while the Dune player is running. What the Dune player cannot do is to send out a “magic packet” so it is not able to wake up the server. Is there any way for the router to send out a magic packet dependant on live “attached devices”? Any other clever alternatives? Thanks |

You do realise that WHS was designed to be run 24/7 - right? Most servers are.
