HDMI 1.1 specifies that you can send 6 channel raw PCM over HDMI. Does the EVA8000 support this? For example, if I play a 5.1 channel AAC file to an HDMI receiver capable of receiving 6 channel PCM, will I hear all 6 channels?
We've already had discussions on a different way to get multichannel AAC sound by using S/PDIF. S/PDIF does not support 6 channel PCM, so in order to get S/PDIF multichannel output, the EVA8000 will need to encode the the AAC into AC3 (or DTS). It sounds like this is on its way based on this comment from ScholarWarrior in another thread:

Yes. This is in the works...

Getting raw 6 channel PCM over HDMI would give even better sound for DVD rips by doing AC3->AAC->PCM instead of AC3->AAC->AC3.
I'm planning on getting a new HDMI 1.3 capable receiver when the new Denons come out in a few months, so I'm hoping that this will be supported. Does anyone out there have an HDMI capable receiver that can test this?
