Default DG834G problem with Apple Bonjour

Hi there,

I have recently switched routers from a Sagem livebox to a Netgear DG834G v5. My problem is that I often use an iPhone app called DocumentsToGo that requires the use of Apple's bonjour service to communicate with my computer via my home wifi network.

I never had any problems with this service until I changed over to my new Netgear router, since then I have been plagued with pairing problems. Initially my computer could not find my iPhone device on the network so after some googling I found the following info:

http://support.dataviz.com/support.srch?docid=14351

I followed every step of this guide religiously but none of it helped, I then figured the problem had to lie with my new router so after more googling found some advice that had worked for other DG834G owners:

  • Set windows firewall exceptions for 'Routing and Remote Access' & for 'Wireless Mobile Devices' - done
  • In my Netgear router settings turn 'Remote Management' On - done
  • Create a router firewall exception to allow all traffic to iTunes port 3689 - done

After doing all of these I restarted my computer and was able to pair my iPhone device with both DocumentsToGo and with iTunes remote - yipee!

Problem is, the next time I logged into my computer it could not find my device again and this time I cannot get it to find my device on my home wireless network no matter what I do. I am running out of ideas - anyone else have any?
