Hello ...
it'me ... again While my NAS (LinkStation Live HS 500GB) will hopefully arrive tommorrow I'm planing to start the transfer of my movie collection from DVD to the NAS... Since this will include some heavy recoding anyway I start to wonder which format to choose... My TV has a native resolution of 1900x1080 BUT it is only able to handle 1080i and 720p. My Audio-System is getting old... it's a Sony DTS/AC3 Receiver paired with some good speakers so I don't see the need of any upgrade right now... But I read that there is a Multi-Channel-Audio to digital out (Ac3) Problem right now... Let's take a worst case cenario and assume that this won't be fixed... What I want is: - 2 Audio Streams: German and English... If possible I would like to keep german audio 5.1(+) and convert english to mp3 or something else (dolby pro logic or something else with 3 channels and a lower bitrate...) And I want to be able to choose between the two audio streams using EVA. - 2 Subtitle Streams... And I want able to see either one or none... - I want to be able to jump to the chapters... - I want to be able to do fast-forward - I want the files to be around 1-2GB for films I like... And up to 8Gb for my all time favorites... Which would like to keep with full dvd-structure... I own Nero 7 and I'm pretty familiar with it (Nero Recode)... But I also own divx (current version) and I got xvid as well, using them with auto gordians knot right now... So what would you suggest... What is possible ? What should I also take in mind ? What kind of tools will I need ? Right now nero-digital seems to be the right choice ? But there are many profils - which is the "highest" eva 8000 supports ? Also a plain ole nero-recode to "only main movie" (mpeg2) could be an option... I also played with auto gk and divx and got good results but I wasn't able to find out if subtitles are in there and I don't know if I will be able to select the audio stream using eva8000 ... A lot of questions, hopefully a lot of answers ... |

Hallo again...
... no one out there tried nero-recode or tested nero-digital-media ? If my last post got to much text I apologize... I just want to know what out of the mentioned feature set will work... - h264/avc - 2 subtitle streams (selectable) - 2 audio streams (selectable) And what is the "best" nero-digital profile the eva8000 will play without problems... I would really apriciate some answers With kind regards BigKid |

I have never got Nero digital .mp4 to play, but I'm new to it and willing to admit I might be doing something wrong in the conversion process.
