Default Vista Local Access Only

I have been using my Acer 5570 laptop to connect via wireless to a WGR-614v10 for several months. I originally had this laptop working with a Linksys until it died and I bought the Netgear. However, a week ago my hard drive died so I had to get a new drive and re-install from the original Acer Vista OEM discs and have not been able to get wireless to work since doing that. I get the infamous Local Only message from Vista telling me it is on an unidentified network. If I plug in my ethernet cable, all works well. I have been using WPA2-PSK personal with AES. If I switch to WPA-PSK with TKIP, which the router says it supports, I cannot connect at all. If I switch to WEP, either 64 or 128 encryption, or leave the router unsecured, I get a working connection. The only hardware change was the hard drive and wireless also works if I boot from an Ubuntu 10.04 live CD.

So far I have upgraded to Vista SP2 (original install was no service pack) with latest updates, tried removing the wireless device (Atheros 5007EG), removed the wireless connection) and a bunch of other things. I have also tried turning off Windows Firewall and User Account Security as well as Acer's network management. Earlier today there was a firmware update for my router available so I installed it. I get an IP from the router, but Vista tells me it is an unidentified network and does not let me connect.

What else can I try to get this working?

I went to Acer's site and downloaded the latest wireless drivers and bios for my laptop and installed them. It didn't make any difference. Windows still shows the wireless on an unidentified network and will not let me connect to anything.
