Network Drop Out

Hi,

I have been using my netgear router for about 18months with no issues.

I have recently installed a 1TB LAN External drive.

I have moved all files onto the drive and all seemed to be working well.

Moving all my music from hamster drived desktop pc to new shiney drive.
I play tunes in itunes or media player and I get symptoms like buffering.

I can sit with task manager open and watch the network go from 1% playing tracks to zero for about 10-15 secs then it will come back on.

if there a way to stop the drop off so I get seemless playback of tracks?

I have made the IP for the drive static in the router setup menu.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.
