I have no idea what SOHO is; so if this is posted to the wrong board, please re-direct it.
I hope I'm on a router discussion subject. I have a Netgear RP614v2 router that is a 'hand-me-down'. I have no idea whether or not the firewall and other security aspects are properly configured. I went to the Netgear web site and they don't have any information that is visible. Perhaps it's hidden. Can anyone please give me some advise as to what settings to check. I do ... thank goodness ... know how to get to the settings page via the ip address; but that's about it. Thank you Chuck |

Hi doonboggle and welcome to the forum.
SOHO (Small office Home Office)- Netgear's home class products, not the Enterprise (Business) products. Your RP614v2 fits in the Home Class section so you are fine there. You don't specify exactly what you are trying to do the firewall and other security settings. Here is the reference manual found on the site. http://kbserver.netgear.com/pdf/rp61...nce_manual.pdf Peace |

Thanks..........Just wanting to make sure the best firewall and security settings are in effect. It's my understanding these things ... routers ... have built-in security methods; namely firewall if I read correctly. But, and have the manual, cannot find where and what to make the settings be. I'm on a satelitte system, which leaves me on-line all the time; and vulnerable I presume. Thanks again. doon Sure would be nice if the country could go back to speaking the everday English lanquage and style. |

Yes, the router has a built in firewall. Some of the routers allow you to disable it in WAN Setup and others don't have that ability.
You can set up a password to access the router in Set Password. Peace |
