Hi there.
I have just bought both together (Netgear router N750 WDNR 4000 + an IOMEGA cloud edition 1TB ). The wireless router is working fine and it was really easy to set it up. But, I have no idea why it does not recognize the IOMEGA device. I had followed all single steps several times already (plug the Ethernet cable to the router > switch the IOMEGA on > install the IOMEGA drive on my lap top) and nothing…. Even when I go to "attached devices" on the routerlogin.net it does not appear.... Please any help / suggestions would be really appreciated. tks a lot augusto. |

please check compatibilty here ...downloaded from netgear support website
WNDR4000 - USB Compatibility List The WNDR4000 router should work with most USB-compliant external flash and hard drives. Do NOT connect computers, USB modems, printers, CD or DVD drives to the router’s USB port. Please note, some USB drives require software to be loaded into the PC or are password protected. Such USB devices will NOT work with WNDR4000. Important: USB drives with more than 2TB capacity are not supported by WNDR4000. The following list of USB drives have been reported to work with WNDR4000: Acer EH12S.L30, 120GB Buffalo BUF-HD-CXU2(B), 2TB Buffalo Mini Station (HD-PF250U2/BK-AP), 250GB Buffalo BUF-HD-PF160U2, 160GB iomega RPHD-U, 150GB Kingston Flash Drive, 1GB Maxtor Maxtor Basic Desktop Storage, 750GB Philips SDE327ISC/97 SanDisk Cruzer Micro, 2GB Seagate Free Agent Pro, 250GB Seagate Free Agent Desktop, 1.5TB Seagate Momentus 5400.5 160GB Seagate FreeAgent Desk Toshiba TA-C100, 160GB Western Digital WDC WD20, 2TB Western Digital My Book, 500GB Western Digital My passport, 500GB Important: USB drives with more than 2TB capacity are not supported by WNDR4000 |

since you are using NAS ( ethernet capable ) it should work fine without any limitation if you are using NAS's ethernet port to netgear router's LAN ports
Last time I setup iomega unit, unit is DHCP so it should pick up IP. try download free IP SCANNER (google it) and scan to see if you find it rather looking at attach devices. or.. go to under LAN setup , use address reservation and use the mac address from the IOMEGA. It should have sticker with mac address and provide the IP for IOMEGA within the DHCP range of the router and see if you can ping and access the IOMEGA GUI from the browser.

HI there.
I tried to add the MAC address and an IP address within the Netgear router range. But unfortunately it did not work either. In fact maybe is because of the device name. See on netgear router LAN setting it ask for the name as well. On the IOMEGA manual it says that: "Device Name: The default name for your Home Media Network Hard Drive is 'hmnhd-XXXXXX' (where XXXXXX is a unique string of letters and numbers)" Another point that is concerning me, the IOMEGA manual says: "IP Address: If no DHCP server is found on your network the Home Media Network Hard Drive will get a self-assigned IP address in the 169.254.x.x range." But my betgear WNDR4000 does not alloed, see below: |

I got your point my friend, but just as I said, the router does not allow me to create it with any IP address starting within 169.254.x.x range.
So basically: router uses 192. on Iomega uses 169. Any idea on it now?????????? It is really driving me crazy..... tks for your time on it. |
