Default XAVN2001 - Incompatible with iPhone?

I've setup 3x XAVN2001 within a very large house. Operating on channels 1,6,& 12.

All devices connect up fine, but after a random period of time when using an Iphone 4 the it stops getting access to the the internet/network. The wireless connection is still active to the powerline device but network/internet access for the iphone 4 only completely stops.

Points of note:

- Other devices connected to the powerline device still have internet access at the time when the iphone stops working

- I have tried this on 3 separate iphone 4's

- The powerline device is not in sleep mode

- The problem seems to happen quicker when 2 iphones are connected, yet only happens to one at a time

- Tried leaving all channels on auto, still the same problem

- Tried moving the units around, swapping them out but the problem is the same

I read somewhere that netgear and iphones potentially have a compatibility problem and that the netgear may think of the iphone as an intruder?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have this problem, with Macs too. I used the XAVN2001 to extend my network to our back house, Apple Time Machine is the main house wifi. Works great at first, then drops the connection after a few minutes. I have 2 MacBook Pros and 2 iPhones and all of them require resetting the Airport/Wifi connection every few minutes in order to maintain connectivity. Total pain in the butt. What is weird is that I use the ethernet port of the Wireless Extender to connect to an apple Airport Express so I can play music wirelessly on the stereo--which all works well. If i am listening to music, the music doesn't stop but I stop being able to get to the internet. Basically, IP dies, or WAN access dies, but local AirTunes protocol survives intact.

This is a serious problem. It makes it a near total loss as a product. I hope there is a fix.

I mentioned this same problem back in March. I still haven't been able to fix it and it's pretty frustrating. Nobody from these forums or Netgear has been able to help me. The problem seems to trigger after a period of inactivity from affected devices. The only thing that works for me is to turn of wifi and then turn it back on. This, of course, gets old really fast. I can verify that this happens on iPhone 3, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad 2, as well as any Android phone running Android 2.1 or earlier.

I don't know if Netgear actually monitors these forums, but I find it incredibly disheartening that a bug this major that affects so many popular devices can go or either undetected or unacknowledged and, most importantly, *unfixed* for so long.

I just hung out at command line running pings and traceroutes while connectivity went in and out. most often, WAN IP access died, with non-reponsive pings. Most of the time I could still ping local network addresses, although I saw that fail a few times too. The AirTunes connection was the most robust, but then failed like the rest.

I have a security cam connected to it that fails, but very infrequently. It is much better at keeping its connection through the Wireless Extender, I have no idea why.

Seems like such a serious problem that it could be bad hardware. But it sure would be nice to see a software-fix attempt from Netgear! Otherwise, time to write some honest negative reviews for this new product.
