Another possible thing to try, if the disk checks out fine with Seatools, is to get a free program called GParted. This would allow you to format the drive in the PC with an EXT3 partition. Then just put it back in the EVA and see if it works.

Thanks for your quick response guys.
@StephenB. I will try the Seatools option. Hope this will work. @Muzicman61. To be honest... I have tried something like that. I didn't used GParted, but I have formatted the drive to EXT3 with Easeus Partition Master. After I insterted the drive, the EVA asked to format the drive. I will give it a try with GParted (have no idea how Gparted is working, but I have to find that out) Danie |

Thanks for the quick response guys.
@StephenB. I will try Seatools and hope this will work. @Muzicman61. I have tried something like that by using Aeseus Partition Manager. With this program I formatted the drive (the 1TB Seagte) to ext3. When I insterted the ext3 formatted drive in the EVA, he asked me to format the drive (again???). When I skipped this, there was no drive installed. After I give the Seatools option a try, I will download GParted. I do not know the program GParted. So I hope it isn't to complicated. Danie |

Generally the best approach is to delete any partitions on the drive, and let the EVA create the partition. |

Stephen is correct, and it would be my last ditch effort before returning the unit. But it all depends too on what SeaTools tells you when it diagnoisis the drive.

Great!!!
Fortunately, I did it. I have format the drive with Acronis Partition Manager and have made 2 partions. The first partition is a linux swap 517 mb. After that I have made a second partition ext3. When I insert the drive into EVA it says "the drive is format with a different system". Then I tried to format it again with the EVA and it works!!!! Maybe this will work with all kind of hard drives. Many thanks for your help guys!!!! Danny |

I'm having success with a 2TB "Western Digital RE4-GP", WDC WD2002FYPS-01U1B1 (with EVA firmwares 2.3.16 and 2.4.68, 2.4.170 at least).
