Unhappy Wireless Printer Install with MAC OS 10.6

Yesterday I tried to install a Brother MFC-J835DW wireless printer. I was able to put the printer on the wireless network and print out a netconfig report from the printer. The report confirms that the printer sees the wireless network SSID, the IP gateway (192.168.1.1), has a good IP address (192.168.1.7) and subnet mask (255.255.255.0). The link status looks good too. I can also see the printer as a device when I log into the WNDR3700v2 admin account.
When I install the printer software, I get to a pointer where I check off that I've confirmed that the printer is on the network, then I get to screen where I should select the printer that I want to configure, yet the computer sees no printers at all. I tried the latest driver from Brother.
What's wrong? I'm stumped. Brother customer support is too.
