Default WNDR3400v2 -- Media devices lost connection, computers only sort of

Hi.

I've had this router about 2 weeks, and I've been very happy with it until now. Today, for no reason that I can see, my blue-ray player and Playstation3 lost their wireless connections to the router. At the time, I was on my laptop reading reviews of software and my wife was on hers using Facebook. I tried to access the admin page using both the recommended method (routerlogin.net) and by IP address. The page would not load in either of my browsers.

I've restarted the router and the cable modem more than once. The modem had a link indicator that was flashing steadily orange. The laptops could do pretty much everything normally, except access the router login page, but none of the other devices could connect. The Sony blu-ray player reported that the gateway might be unplugged or powered off. A wired connection to one of the laptops allowed internet browsing, but still no access to the main router admin page.

Finally, a restore to factory defaults solved the problem, and everything is connected now. But I'm curious whether anyone else has had similar experiences, and whether anyone knows what might have caused this so I can prevent it in the future?
