PPTP Connection Problem

Has anyone succeeded in establishing a PPTP VPN connection from a WNDR3800 to a service like StrongVPN?

I had no problems doing this with my D-Link DIR-655. But the 3800 seems to not be capable of establishing such a connection.

Tech support seems to not understand what such a connection does or why I might want one -- and kept flipping between the "VPN Passthrough is what you need" and "So if you have a connection established with your cable modem why on earth do you need a PPTP connection to some service other than your cable provider?" scripts.

Their final conclusion - "This is a job for a professional router, not a home unit like the 3800" is unacceptable. Especially when I know that DD-WRT can be set up.

So. Has anyone made a connection work?
