Default PTV1000 Could not obtain network address

I recently purchase a Dell N5110 and Netgear Push2TV1000. The setup was easy and the product worked fine for 45 minutes, then it dropped the connection

When I tried to reconnect I keep getting - "Could not obtain network address" on my TV screen. I followed all of the troubleshooting suggestions. I even turned off my firewall - to make sure I had no conflicts.

I have current software and drivers. When I tried to install from the Netgear site - it stated my software was more current.

The Intel WIDI software is 2.1.42.1 and the Intel Proset wireless software is 14.2.0000

The only solution I have found is to uninstall and reinstall all the software, reboot, and reset the adapter. Everything works fine until the adapter drops. If I disconnect the adapter - I can reconnect, but if it drops on its own - then it is reinstall time. Is there a better workaround?

One easy solution that I have found for this - instead of reinstalling - either you just reboot your leptop. OR - if your laptop has a physical switch for switching wifi on/off, just do that ... off and on. and it'll work again.

Question Re: PTV1000 Could not obtain network address

I am having the same problem PTV1000 Could not obtain network address.

I see this posted all over the internet, with some solutions to fix the problem, but people are responding the those fixes do not work.

Does anyone working for NETGEAR have a solution ?

This is a community forum, not a netgear support forum. You might also want to create a support case at https://my.netgear.com/myNETGEAR/support.asp

Smile Re: PTV1000 Could not obtain network address

Just turn OFF auto scan for device. If you get that error, simply exit the program and restart the prg . Then scan for device when it finds it click connect. Once in a while u may have to do it twice but usually just once. No need to reboot. Just remember to turn off auto scan. Works for me. I always get that error the first attempt. Don't get frustrated.

If some of us would push the issue a little harder maybe WE can get the people who sell this stuff to answer us.

Push Netgear all you want.

But this is a community forum, not a Netgear support forum. Check the FAQ link at the top: http://forum1.netgear.com/faq.php?fa...forums_purpose

These forum are designed as a community where users can help each other out with their technical and product related questions.
Some Netgear employees may check in occasionally, and may even post from time to time. But their on-line support is done through https://my.netgear.com/myNETGEAR/support.asp not here.
