I have a WNDR3400v2 router, an Epson NX415, and a WD hard drive. I run Mac OSX 10.7.3. I'm trying to connect both to the router through a USB hub, but I've tried setting them up separately first. I'm having trouble setting both things up.
For the harddrive: When I go to "Connect to Server" and enter "smb://readyshare" I get an error which says: "There was a problem connectiong the server readyshare. The server may not exist or it is unabailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again." On the routerlogin page, I've selected all the boxes under readyshare and also tried the address for each one. When I click on edit or create network folder, it says "No Disk." For the printer: I've downloaded the NETGEAR USB Control Center app, but when I run it, it doesn't recognize that a printer is connected (it won't recognize the harddrive either). The list just stays blank. I'd love some help on one or both issues! |

Your printer will need to be wifi or network capable. OR you will need to get a network print server adapter.

Hey, I've been having a similar problem when I plug in my USB printer into the WNDR3400v2. No where in any documentation did I read that the printer needed to be network compatible, my understanding was the USB port on the router enabled you to use a non-network/wireless/ethernet printer as a network printer through the router.
Am I mistaken? Because if the printer needs to be network enabled, then why do I need this capability from my router? |

The USB port of the cannot be used for a printer. It is only for hard drives or USB thumbdrives. See the user manual's section on connecting a hard drive - at the beginning of the section there is a note to this effect.

This doesn't seem right. There's a Netgear doc entitled "ReadySHARE Printer" which gives instructions on setting up a USB printer by connecting it to the router's USB port.
