Hi Everyone!
I'm new to this forum, so I'm sorry if this post is a repeat. (I've looked at many posts, but couldn't possibly go through all 400+ to find my answer.) I noticed that the blue dome light on my WNDR3400 N600 wireless router has dimmed considerably when the electricity went out for a split second then came back on. Has anyone had this experience? If so, is it safe to continue to use the router? The phone tech guy from Netgear said I shouldn't worry as long as the lights along the side are lit up correctly, which they are. I'm also getting a good connection and all the bars are high or completely filled on the Internet Access icon. I'm just concerned that the blue dome light is very dim now that the electricity has been restored. I do have it connected to a surge protector. Any help will be appreciated. |

You are fine. You can always try a hard reset so see if it fixes it. But don't worry.

Thanks, Sabretooth! That's good to know -- and I needed that second opinion!

LED portion has less draw and possible that outage could have damaged the unit but if continues to works the you should be fine if the unit out of warranty.
LED should not effect anyway..

Jmizoguchi, thanks so much for responding. While I couldn't prepare for this past outage, which lasted a split second before the electricity came back on, is there something I should do if the electricity goes out again, and doesn't come back on for a while? For instance, unplugging the unit or turning off the surge protector? Should I do that anyway?
It's sort of frustrating because the cable modem is also on that surge protector and turning off the surge protector would cut out the phone service. |

You would not have this issues if you invest in APC back up UPS or similar.
I have 4 of in my office to ALL my network device rack and office desk as well. I have not encounter any damaged to my devices for the past .... way too long. so $45 bucks APC ups can prolong your devices.
