Question FVS336G Unreachable After A Certain Amount of Time

All-

I've been using a FVS336Gv1 for a couple of years now and have recently upgraded to the latest firmware. Since upgrading, the router becomes unreachable for VPN connections after a certain amount of time (maybe even after a certain number of connections?). I'm using DynDNS, but the issue remains even when trying to connect via the router's external WAN IP address. I can connect to the device fine from the internal network and a reboot will always solve the problem (at least for a few days).

Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot/solve this issue?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Make sure you have HARD RESET the unit and manually configure it

Thanks, June. I was back onsite yesterday and was able to "kick-start" the router into accepting VPN connections by editing the IKE policy and clicking apply. I did not restart the router, but it immediately started accepting connections. Does this help in the troubleshooting process at all?

A hard reset and a manual re-config is definitely something I would like to avoid since everything else is working perfectly...

Thanks for your help!

if you flash firmware from some old version to current then you NEED to manually configure it with hard reset. 3.0.6 --> 3.0.7

if you can band aide that way then you can but if above is correct in scenario then hard reset and manually is highly recommended

Unhappy Re: FVS336G Unreachable After A Certain Amount of Time

June-

I've completed a hard reset and manually re-configured the router (instead of uploading a saved configuration file) and I'm still experiencing the same issue. Connectivity at the location is not the issue. Any other ideas? Thanks so much!

Go back to prior firmware and test it out

Wish that was an option, but it's not... I rely on the iPhone VPN functionality released in the latest firmware for mobile connectivity. Have you heard of anyone else experiencing a similar issue with this model or another? Thanks again for all of your help!

you have to go back and test if it is caused by firmware not

I too have experienced this issue. Using an FVS336G V1, 3.0.7-24 FW,
When the software running in the unit fails to work properly, I lose DNS and I can no longer connect to it from the wan using remote config or VPN since it no longer knows how to log onto my ISP. All the information is still in the router but it won't work properly unless I factory default it (hard reset) or reflash it with a backup file.
