compatibility issue hotspot shield / wnda3100

everytime i enable hotspot shield, the netgear genie shows that the link between the router and internet is broken. but apparently, i can still surf the net and do other things except login to a game that i'm playing. i need the hotspot shield to log into the game because the server is in another country. i used to have a wired connection to the router and i didn't have any problem logging into my game. does anybody have any idea how i can make my wireless adapter work properly with hotspot shield?

os: xp sp3
wireless router: netgear n600 dual band giga premium
wireless adapter: netgear wnda3100
ISP: Oceanic Time Warner Roadrunner
