Default Can't connect Roku HD to my Netgear network

My main router is Netgear WNDR3700v2 with security set at WPA2-PSK[AES] that links wirelessly to a WN2000RPT about 80ft and several rooms away. The 2.4 ghz signal needs the repeater function for a strong signal in the remote area where my TV is located. A laptop shows that the WN2000RPT is delivering all bars there with a 104 Mbps link to the main router. Also no trouble connecting remotely in that area with Windows, Mac or Linux laptops. However, I just purchased a Roku HD player and although sees the signal as strong (all bars) on booting up, it will not connect and complete the setup after I enter the passpharse. I suspect the Netgear routers may not be properly configured. If so, I need to some pointers to help solve that (I'm using channel 11 on 2.4 ghz and all my cordless phones are DECT 6.0 so they shouldn't interfere).
It also occured to me that perhaps that the regular Roku HD player simply does not play with Netgear equipment and I need a dedicated Netgear Roku NTV250 instead.
Does anyone have any insight into any of the above issues?

Hi,
I have not worked with Roku's, but I want to make a suggestion.
http://www.roku.com/roku-products#4
Their spec says it supports WEP, WPA and WPA2.
It doesn't mention the Authentication protocol.

Fo debug, can you switch you router to WEP, and see whether Roku connects.
That would point to Encryption/ Authentication mismatch.

Regards,
Marto.

Default Re: Can't connect Roku HD to my Netgear network

I bought a Roku several days ago and I also got stuck at the password. I called NetGear and said he could help after I send him $129.00! You believe that BS! Corporate Greed!

Today Roku customer support called and tried to help me with several different settings but all were unsuccessful!

Here is what we tried:

1.) Wireless Settings: Changed Channels from 06 to 11.
2.) Mode: From auto 108Mbps to b and g.
3.) Secuity Options: From WEP to None.
4.) Security Encryption (WEP) Key: Key #1 changed to my home phone number.

We then tried entering several different passwords, but it will not accept!

We also reset the Roku unit several times. For some reason, the Roku will Not work with the NetGear router!!!

NetGear has terrible support and I will never buy anything that is made by NetGear!

Anyone have any suggestions?
I am no networking tech wizard, but would something like this work:

Connect the modem directly to the Roku. Then connect an Adapter to my computer USB (which I already have).

I know the modem will work directly to the Roku, since I already done that several days ago. But Roku then gives a code that you need to register at Roku.com/Link. Well I have to disconnect the modem from the Roku, then connect it back to the computer. When I reconnected the modem to the Roku again, I have to start all over!

There is no sense asking NetGear for help, even Roku cannot figure it out. So has anyone here solved this problem?

Thank you.
