Hi all...
I've setup a ReadyShare USB HDD (3TB). I have all my folders created and I've added them using the setup page to the shared list in the router. I've set my requirements for each folder as follows: folder 1 = no password for read (require password for write) folder 2 = no password for read (require password for write) folder 3 = **require password for read/write** I'm using two Windows 7 PCs (both hardwired into the router) and can see and access the folders via my network shortcuts. My problem is that all three folders require me to login on first viewing, but once I've logged in to any one of them, all folders and all read/write tasks are available until computer restart it seems. What I want is when I click on folder 3 it will require a login and remain active while the folder is open, but once I close the window I want it to require a password again on next viewing. As for Folder 1 & 2, I want those to allow multiple views for reading, but of course once something is trying to be written to the folder then require a password login for that task. As a side note, I've got my admin password set for access to the router, but no "user" level set. I've looked around the router and can't seem to find a separate "admin" vs "user" log in setting and my only theory right now is that the router is requiring a standard login on first view and since I'm logging in as admin it's allowing me full access, but I had hoped that since I don't have a user level set and the folders state "no password, all" in the setup that it wouldn't be asking me to log in. I also do not see any place to add a "media server" password or log in info. Any tips or help on this one?? |

User level is "guest" with no password, as stated in the manual.

I think I'm going to give up.... not only do I still have "security" issues with limiting file/folder uses... but I've also run into an issue when I try to move files from one directory to another. I get a "you need permission to do this" error and it really messes up the file system.
I had to use chkdsk to restore several lost files. |
