Default GS105E Gateway

I only use the GS105E for testing. It has it's own IP address which is never on the same subnet that I connect it to and it works fine - just like a hub really. No gateway is valid though, so I would like to not give it a gateway but it requies one (and wont take 0.0.0.0). When I give it it`s own IP address it seems to work fine, but I am curious if this is condiered `bad` in the sense that it will mess something up? I use it primarily for the port mirroring functionality (ports 1-4 mirrored to port 5) and don't want it picking up DHCP requests (and don't want it to do anything but pass on the info and mirror).

Does anyone know if it makes a difference what gateway I put in?
