Thought i'd replace my backup modem , my trusty old 834GT, with an N model. So the 2200 looked OK but I have a problem with the wireless. I have been running a borrowed Billion 7300N and run 2 laptops and my PC upstairs from it for a few months for the N feature. Solid 5 bars all the time...never changes. But on testing the 2200 I get 4 bars and several time during the day the signal will drop to 2 bars and then after a while go back up again. I've changed the channel a few times but there is no local contention on Channel 7 so I use that or 4. On my PC where I am monitoring from I have a Netgear WNA 3100
I have the latest firmware...not that there appears to be much of a program on this model. Modem is located in the same spot as the Billion. Aerials in same orientation and I have changed them to try and see if thats the problem. It appears that the Netgear is just not as good as the Billion so before I send it back and as a long fan of Netgear any tips appreciated please |

If you are not getting a good signal from the DGN2200, I would suggest that you try changing the Fragmentation Length and CTS/RTS Threshold from the Advanced Wireless Settings of the unit's configuration page.
Try changing the values of Fragmentation Length from the default value to 2304. Put in the same value on the CTS/RTS Threshold. Check the status of your connection again and see if there is an improvement. You mentioned that you have the latest firmware but have you tried to reflash it just in case? Have you configured the same security type on both the DGN2200 and the Billion 7300N? |
