But all the lights on the front are solid green and everything is working fine. All wired and wireless devices connect to the internet without issue. I checked the Genie two weeks ago and everything was normal. Never made any changes. Then today it states it is not connected. But it is! Is this a software issue? Firmware is 1.0.0.58. Anyone have any ideas?

I have the same issue and the only thing I did is upgrade my Windows 7 to Windows 8 Consumer Preview.

Just installed a new router yesterday and see the same problem with the Netgear Genie. Did you ever get an answer or fix to your problem?

I have same problem. Don't see any value in Genie. Maybe I should but Genie back in the bottle.

Just installed new 4500 and kept fighting the Internet no connection issue only to fine, it all works okay. Everything is working fine, all devices can see and use the internet, but the router status says Internet Not Connected.

I have the same issue. Both the genie desktop and web app agree: they say there is no connection to the internet. When I attempt a repair, they tell me the cable is not plugged in.
The cable is definitely plugged in, and the internet connection is working just fine. So, out of curiosity, what is everyone here plugging their router into exactly? A cable modem? DSL? I ask because my honest answer is "I don't know". I'm on a student residence, and I don't know how they've structured the network here. To me, there's a magical port in the wall that leads to the internet, but I am not sure what physical piece of equipment lies beyond that port. That might change how the Netgear router should be configured. In my case, I am beginning to suspect I should disable the DHCP on the router and use static IPs for my clients. This may fix the problem, and I'll have to fiddle with it later. |

I think there may be a conflict with Netgear Genie and IE, or Dell Desktops and Laptops, or the Intel Centrino N6230.
I have issues with Netgear Genie on Both my Dell Laptop at home, and my Dell Desktop tower at my business. Today I updated version of Genie at work, and then couldn't run most of Genie via Internet Explorer. Called Netgear support who informed me my 90 day support expired 10 days ago so I could pay more to ask them why their version upgrade didn't work on IE. I passed on the offer. I was able to run Genie successfully via Google Chrome. For past few months Genie has given me Internet disconnected messages on my fairly new Dell Laptop. However NONE of the other devices on same network at the same time had issues, ONLY the Dell laptop running the GENIE. Auto fix kept pointing to the Intel N6230 network card. I updated drivers and same problems. Now, after cold boot running IE without any issues. Afraid to re-launch Genie for fear of software conflict issues. I really do believe that Netgear Genie has conflict issues with IE. Any other thoughts? |

Check ur firewall on the PC.
Look in the logs for ICMP attacks from your own PC's IP address. |

uninstall genie( I have no idea what that is...never used it) and see what your experience is without it.
