I looked up the D-Link DIR-645 as a comparable model router and it has a port forwarding rule limit of 24 http://www.dlink.com/uk/en/home-solu...5ManualUK.ashx I ‘Googled’ ‘maximum number port forward rules’, and didn’t find any routers (up to the first few pages) that exceeded 20 rules, some high performance Cisco routers even had a limit of 10 user definable rules in addition to 5 pre-set rules.

DD-Wrt has the interface where you add a record at a time, it doesn't show any fixed limit, and I never ran out of Port Forwards in DD-Wrt. Along the same line, I've never quite found a practical use for Netgear's Port Triggering. But then I'm not a gamer, and I don't think I ever needed to enable triggering for any Chat programs. |

Support for modern emails (ie with SSL and the stuff that for instance gmail requires), and a way to download a log from the router, instead of sending it via email

Ability to specify a particular LAN port or IP address as a "guest" that should not have access to the rest of the LAN (similar to what the Guest WiFi network does).

When adding MAC addresses to the MAC filter, I think you should be able to add more than one at a time. This would probably also effect the lifetime of the router because each time you add an address it restarts. In the event you have to add a bunch at once, like for example when you decide passcodes aren't safe enough and you go to add all your devices to the list or when you first get the router and want to use the MAC filter you don't have to restart the router multiple times for every singe device. Cisco has this feature but I'm not sure about the rest.

Timeschedule for rebooting the router, daily, weekly or monthly.
ie. Router could reboot every sunday night. Like a computer, i'd guess a router could use a reboot now and then. |

For the wndr3700v3
Im sure all netgear products do this, not sure why, cause Linksys and dlink have no issues here... The router wont keep time, auto update firmware, or allow parental controls, or the traffic meter when using as an access point because the cable is not plugged into the wan port, it goes into a lan port. Well seriously? That is just stupid. Overall I have no issues and great signal and range. But the time now working, throws logs off, no auto update is a pain (have you used netgears website?) and parental controls should still work, and the meter should for sure work. if anything, the time and traffic meter need to work. Its an access point, you should be able to monitor traffic, and disable when you want to limit only the traffic that uses it, hence why the parental controls should work as well. For example, my kids and guests all use the ap for the main and upper floors of the house, but main router is for the basement only, and heavy traffic, for my home theater, and Is the only unrestricted internet in the house. Its perfect to be honest. So please update the firmware to see the internet connection when hooked up through a lan port for access points, or non dhcp servers

I second this request. Daily reboots can be very helpful for some european countries (Germany, for example) since their ISPs force disconnect their customers every 24hs. ...and it's not exactly great when that happens in the middle of day or the time of disconnection changes whenever you change settings. A daily reboot would resolve all that when it happens in the middle of the night.
