I'm trying to connect to my HP deskjet 5650 print with a PS101 with no success. I've used the install CD but fails at the Printer Select screen. Any suggestions?

quit the netgear apps and go to control panel> printer and start adding printer, you should find netgear ports when you select which ports to use

I had the same problem - only Windows XP printer server installation was successful, but it wasn't printing everything as I wanted. In Windows 7 the installation would fail and using TCP/IP port would show errors, printer was offline and if I could finally print, I would get mutiple pages with errors.
After trying everything posted on netgear website, I found other solutions on the web. Connect to your print server via website and find out what is the print server name. Then connect to it by url \\printserver and you will see port P1. Open cmd window and type the following: net use lpt1 \\printserver\p1 /persistent:yes Then, you can install printer as a local and use port lpt1 as a connection with correct print drivers. Printer will be showing always online and printing works as it was connected locally. |

Here is what worked for me. I came up with this solution from other posts on this forum. Thank you all who contributed.
PS101 - Parallel Port Print Server Installed the PS101v2_5_0_setup.zip Run NETGEAR Print Server Administration Program - Click on Quick * Write down Selected Device, in my case PSxxxxxx, also found printed on the shell of the PS101. Go back to NETGEAR Print Server Administration Program Click on TCP/IP tab - Write Down IP Address Click on Physical Port tab - Current Selected Physical Port, should be set to Parallel Port 1 - Current Physical Port name, should be set to P1 Close NETGEAR Print Server Administration Program From Start Menu - Devices and Printers - Open Print Server Properties - Click Add Port - Select Standard TCP/IP Port - Click New Port * Click Next * In Printer Name or IP Address, type in< IP Address> from above * In Port Name, type in <Selected Device> from above * Go to Device Type - Radio button Standard selected, from the drop down choose, Network Print Server (1 Port-Parallel ) * Clicking Next should give a summary, Click Finish - From Print Server Properties, locate the PSxxxxxx port, click Configure Port * Change Protocol from RAW to LPR * Under LPR Settings, Queue Name should be set to L1 * Click OK, then Close Print Server Properties At Devices and Printers, * Click Add a printer - Click Add a local printer At Use an existing port, click the drop down, and select PSxxxxxx - Click Next * Install the printer driver, select accordingly. |

So, what do you recommend? I forgot to mention that one time I was successful on instaling Netgear software on my Win 7, but after reinstalling system it doesnt work again
![]() Maybe there is a solution for installing software? I tried compatibility mode, running as administrator, even creating manually folder for application, but it doesnt work at all
