Red face WG111v3 & DG834G set up problems

Hi Guys, finally having to admit defeat after days trying to set these up.
Basically my DG834G has all the lights on, including 2 hardwire LANs, thankfully so I can at least post here.
The WG111v3 seems to be the problem, it just will not allow me to connect via wireless. I have tried via Windows rather than Smart Wizard, also removing all security & passphrases, uninstalling & reinstalling using drivers from the Netgear site, all with no success.
Also Smart Wizard launches as a WG511v2 version!!! and always provides the error message "An unsupported operation was attempted".
Please can any of you experts help....I hoped Wireless would be an easy upgrade..but not so far.
Regards & Happy New Year,
Chris

Default Re: WG111v3 & DG834G set up problems

Your post is the only one I can find that in any way resembles my own problem.

I have the DG834G router and a WG111v3 adapter on my desktop PC, but the WG511v2 wizard is launched, with most areas blanked out. This started to happen about three weeks after initial set-up. Any attempt to view functions by clicking on tabs or buttons brings up the 'unsupported operation' error message.

Fortunately, internet access doesn't seem to be affected, but it's not giving me the information I want from the wizard.

Maybe now - three months after your unanswered post - someone will take pity on us and explain what we need to do.

Well, it seems I was wrong to be so optimistic, when the new WG111 'Sticky' thread contains a lot of problems much worse than this ... and none of them getting any answers either.

Moderator - please assign this thread to the new forum just in case any users have the fix that your company can't or won't provide.

Angry unsupported operation

G’Day, after a little help please

Re my NETGEAR wireless -G USB 2.0 adapter

Every time I start my PC, I get this message

WG111V3 an unsupported operation was attempted

I can usually still get on line but the problem persists every time I boot up.
I’ve also tried uninstalling the software and re installing, I get the same problem the net time I boot up the pc, I’ve also downloaded an update and I get the same message.

I’ve tried searching for a solution but so far have come up empty.

Amy help would be appreciated

Thank you

Exclamation Re: WG111v3 & DG834G set up problems

I have the same problem as described by rualscot. It is alarming to see that there is no response, patches, revisions, or documentation for this problem. Nothing to be found regarding this problem in the "knowledgebase" either.

WinXP SP2
WG111v3
- connecting to MR814v2
An unsupported operation was attempted.

When the OS loads the WG511v2 SMART WIZARD interface is blank and error alert boxes are presented stating, "An unsupported operation was attempted." Clicking each tab of the interface produces more of the same error messages. Yet, all the while, the device is connected to the router (MR814v2) and internet connectivity is established.

The day this device was installed it operated correctly. The following day and thereafter, it has behaved erratically as I, (and "ruralscot"), have described.

Is there a solution to this problem? A driver download? Smart Wizard update? Documentation? Any and all HELP would be greatly appreciated.

Who do we need to ask for answers to our questions? Thanks, but... there is no information in the "stickies" regarding the described problem...

WinXP SP2
WG111v3
WG511v2 "Smart Wizard" has blank interface...
"An unsupported operation was attempted" error messages...
