Default Firmware upgrade gone horribly wrong. Help please ty

I logged in to my router and was surprised to find a message at the top of the page that said "new firmware update available". I clicked on it and it installed, but I later found out I wasn't supposed to update it over a wireless connection. That's when I started noticing my internet speed was slowing down substantially. I went to speedtest.net and found out that my 20mb connection had dropped to a consistent 3mb connection. After that I tryed to do a hard reset, in a effort to undo the damage. It didn't work. and the version that is giving me problems is still in place according to my router homepage. Am I doing something wrong? How can I reverse this damage? Someone help me please!

Doesn't matter since it is the router downloading and you are NOT uploading the firmware from your PC via wifi to the router

You suppose to HARD RESET the router flashing/installing new firmware
