Default Netgear XAV1004 vs. Netgear Switch

What's the difference between using a Netgear XAV1004 4-port Powerline AV 200 Adapter and using a Netgear single port powerline AV 200 adapter connected to a Netgear 5-port Ethernet switch?

I'm looking at hooking up 4 devices in one room to my router in another room via Powerline adapters.
